“The intent of my art is to capture the feel of ever-changing sea life through light, shadow, form, and motion.”
Lorraine Passero
Her Story

Native New Yorker Lorraine Passero has always lived within reach of the ocean—whether on the island of Manhattan, the shores of Long Island, or on the beaches of Laguna Beach, CA and Venice, FL. Her lifelong connection to the sea and passion for art began in her childhood, inspired by weekend visits to New York City's world class museums.
After earning her degree from Long Island University with a teaching credential and a minor in fine art, Passero moved to California to teach and pursue a master's degree. There, the ocean became the central theme of her artistic expression.
Over the years, Passero has worked fluidly across mediums—graphite, oil, and acrylic— continually exploring new ways to capture the rhythm and beauty of the sea. A pivotal moment in her artistic journey came during a trip to Japan on a Fulbright scholarship, where she was introduced to gyotaku , the traditional Japanese art of fish printing. In this technique, inked impressions of sea life are transferred onto rice paper and then artistically enhanced, blending natural form with creative interpretation.
In addition, other recent works include mixed media, watercolor paintings, and seashell murals. She continues her education as a dedicated student of the Art Students League of New York.
Together with her husband, also an artist, Passero travels to tropical destinations—Costa Rica, the Mediterranean, and the Tahitian Islands, finding endless inspiration in the ocean's light, movement, and color. Through her art, she invites viewers to share in that connection and experience the serenity and intense vibrancy of the sea.
